ILN: Intensive Literacy and Numeracy (Palmerston North and Wanganui)

ILN is the key to your future. This course will build your foundation skills and assist you in progressing towards the career pathway of your choice. We will work with you to create an individual learning plan and assist you in the achievement of unit standards towards National Certificates.

YOUTH GUARANTEE (Palmerston North and Wanganui)

This is a full time free programme for those under 20 years old. Work towards getting one or more of the following: National Certificate in Employment Skills, NCEA Level 1 and 2, National Certificate in Computing level 2, National Certificate in Business Administration and Computing level 2. Other opportunities include: Create an individual learning plan to help achieve goals, Develop a C.V and gain interview skills, Gain computer skills, Learn job search skills, Life skills. 

TRADES: Furniture Making (Wanganui)

This vocationally-focussed programme helps students develop the skills required and an understanding of relevant trade terms and practices specifically in the construction and furniture-making industries, with emphasis on safety in the workplace. This course promotes achievement of the National Certificate in Furniture Making (Introduction to General Furniture Manufacturing) and National Certificate in Educational Achievement. INTRANZ/Mechanical Engineering (Wanganui)This vocationally-focussed programme helps students develop skills and an understanding of trade terms and practices relevant to mechanical engineering, with an emphasis on safety in the workplace. The programme promotes achievement of the National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering and National Certificate in Educational Achievement. As this programme has close relationships, sponsorship and mentorship with industry partners, an intended outcome is that students may be placed in apprenticeships or work.

TRADES: Meat Processing (Wanganui)

This entry-level vocational programme is designed for students who require a pre-employment course in order to develop the skills required to enter the meat and food processing industries. It is also the aim of this programme that students learn the transferable generic skills required by employers in today’s market.
Units towards a National Certificate in Meat Processing along with other transferable skills may be gained. Students may be placed in apprenticeships or work at the conclusion of their training.

Training 4 Work and Workplace Learning (Wanganui)

These programmes aim to support students to become work-ready. Students are given assistance to develop their literacy/numeracy levels, generic work and life skills, communication and computer skills, occupational and industry-related skills.

Alternative Education (Wanganui)

Alternative Education is a system of education for students aged between 13 and 16 who have become ‘alienated’ from mainstream schooling.  It is funded by the Ministry of Education, administered by a local school and operated by local community providers. The aim is to provide a positive alternative that can create a pathway back into education, onto further training or into employment and to minimise the consequences of dropping out of school early.
